I'm working on a project that involves truly analyzing and considering what the online brand experience should be for a company. It's an interesting study in what a digital experience should be and what it should not be with respect to telling a brand story online.
Considering today is my birthday, I began to consider the situation in context of what I want to be when I grow up. The site we want to build is at that crossroads. It's grown up and needs to define itself. What does it want to be, what does it want to say. Here's my expectation for what this grown up online brand experience needs to be.
1. Simple - Tell me a story about your brand. Tell me what you believe and how it drives your perception of the world and motivates you to do what you do.
2. To the point - Don't beat around the bush, show me the point. Illustrate your beliefs in actions, and the impact that action has on the medium, environment, experiences it lives in.
3. Action - The above simplicity and getting to the point should lead me to action. Motivate me to move, think, consider, reassess my point of view.
It's an interesting experience that I'll continue to chew on.
